The BioBeauty consortium consists of 8 partners from 5 different countries: Spain, United Kingdom, Slovenia, Netherlands and France.

 

ITENE: As coordinator of the project, ITENE will be responsible for managing the project on behalf of the Board, liaising with European Commission and providing project administration support.
As an RTD performer ITENE will undertake the research and development activities assigned in the project work plan. In brief, ITENE will encapsulate the antioxidants, modify the nanoclays and develop the bioactive materials. Moreover, ITENE will be responsible for packaging development at the laboratory scale.

Heriot Watt University: HWU role will be safety assessment of the nanomaterials incorporated in the different products developed during the project.
Specifically, HWU as the RTD partner will conduct research on the hazards of key materials used in this project and will provide advice the appropriateness of their use. HWU will benefit from this partnership by working with industrial partners and being involved in real life case studies.

Alissi Bronte produces organic skin creams and intends to replace the non-renewable packages by other packages more environmentally-friends which have the same shelf life than the current package. In the BioBeauty project, Alissi Bronte will validate the new bioactive pot with its products. Similarly, Alissi Bronte will also validate the use of all new packaging components throughout the process.

Alan Coar manufactures dermatological cosmetics with natural antioxidants packed in conventional non-biodegradable polymers. It aims to cater for the requirements of consumers demanding greener packaging. In the BioBeauty project, Alan Coar will validate the new bioactive tube on its products and will also validate the use of all new packaging components throughout the process.

Vitiva is a European manufacturer of natural ingredients used in cosmetic products. The main role in the BioBeauty project will be select the best antioxidant to be release from the package and its microencapsulation. Then Vitiva should check that the antioxidant maintains its effectiveness after each step of the process.

Martin Snidjer Holding B.V. will act as Technical Manager of BIOBEAUTY project. MSH is a manufacturer of concentrates and compounds for the plastics processing industry, and has a crucial role in the project to obtain a PLA compound containing the nanocomposites and the antioxidants with the appropriate dispersion. This compound will be provided to the packaging manufacturers to obtain the final package.

ETS Bugnon’s main roll will be the development of a bioactive tube which provides a cosmetic cream with the same shelf life as oil-based tubes. ETS will also validate the conversion process to obtain a suitable dispersion in the final tube.
